台灣海域出現的海龜種類，包括綠蠵龜、欖蠵龜、赤蠵龜、玳瑁和革龜，其中綠蠵龜在澎湖望安和屏東琉球等地，有上岸繁殖的紀錄。每年七至八月為產卵高峰期，母海龜上岸後在沙地上挖坑，並產下約百粒的卵，經約五十天的孵化期，小海龜破卵而出，雖然有海鷗等天敵環伺，仍奮力爬向大海，進入海中後展開新的生活，然而順利存活的數量有限，需要積極的保育與對海洋環境的關懷。
The female sea turtles dig holes on sand to lay eggs. Then, after about fifty days of incubation period, little sea turtles will break shells to come out. Though there might be some predators, like seagulls approaching, they struggle to crawl to the open sea to start a new life.
